AMD Shanghai Processor

AMD's latest 45nm quad-core processor codenamed "Shanghai". Will be launched in the second half of this year.

  • Frequencies at which the processor is mentioned though is that the processor will be able to go over 3GHz, and that it needs 1.150V to run.
  • "Shanghai" has 2 mb L2 cache (512 KB per core) and 6 mb shared L3 cache vis-a-vis Barcelona's 2 mb shared L3 cache.
  • AMD will likely go the MCP or multi-chip module way like Intel, and will glue together two Shanghai chips on one socket to make an eight-core 'Montreal' processor.
